Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialized therapy designed to support the function of the lymphatic system through light, rhythmic hand movements that encourage the natural movement of lymph fluid throughout the body. This therapeutic technique is commonly used to support post-surgical recovery, lymphedema management, inflammation, and overall wellness while promoting relaxation and nervous system regulation.
MLD For Post-Surgery Recovery
Manual Lymphatic Drainage supports the body through post-operative healing with a focus on reducing swelling, encouraging healthy circulation, improving mobility, and easing discomfort throughout recovery. This service is especially supportive for those recovering from orthopedic, reconstructive, or cosmetic procedures and seeking a calm, nurturing approach to recovery and integrated healing.

How does massage and MLD help with depression, trauma and mental health?
1
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized, gentle bodywork technique that uses slow, rhythmic movements to support the function of the lymphatic system. By following the natural pathways of lymphatic vessels, MLD encourages fluid movement and promotes healthy circulation. Benefits include: reduction of swelling and fluid retention, feeling of lightness and decreased puffiness, relaxation and stress relief, support during periods of inflammation or recovery.
What is the Lymphatic System?
3
What is MLD?
The lymphatic system is an essential network of vessels, tissues, organs, and lymph nodes that supports both fluid balance and immune function throughout the body. It carries lymph—a clear fluid containing white blood cells—helping move excess fluid, support the body’s natural filtering processes, and contribute to overall wellness.
Why is the Lymphatic System Important?
4
Supports healthy fluid movement - The lymphatic system helps collect and return excess fluid from tissues back into circulation, supporting balance throughout the body. This is especially important for people who experience edema (swelling).
Plays a VITAL role in Immune Function - Lymph nodes act as security checkpoints, filtering out bacteria, viruses, and abnormal cells. They store and activate infection-fighting lymphocytes (white blood cells). Healthy lymphatic system lends to a healthy immune system.
Assists with nutrient transport - The lymphatic system also helps absorb and transport fats and fat-soluble nutrients from the digestive system into the circulatory system.

Some clients may notice feeling less puffy or more relaxed after a single visit. Others experience the greatest benefit through a series of sessions depending on their medical challenges, goals and lifestyle.
How to prepare for my appointment?
6
Arrive well hydrated.
Have a light meal beforehand, avoid having a heavy meal.
Wear comfortable clothing.
Arrive 15 minutes early to first appointment to fill out paperwork.
Can I remain clothed or will I need to completely undress?

Therapeutic touch has been shown to support the body’s parasympathetic response, which may help reduce stress hormones, ease muscle tension, improve sleep quality, and encourage a greater sense of emotional balance and well-being.
For many people, massage also provides a safe, nurturing environment to slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and experience moments of comfort, grounding, and human connection. While massage is not a replacement for mental health care, it can serve as a valuable complementary support alongside counseling, therapy, and other wellness practices.
Your comfort, safety, and sense of ease are always the priority. With that being said, what you choose to wear during your session is entirely up to your comfort level. Some clients prefer to remain fully clothed, while others choose to undress partially or completely for their massage. Many clients choose to keep their undergarments on, but there is no expectation either way. You will be professionally draped throughout the entire session, all private areas will be covered, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered at any time.
